Dedication ceremony to open St. John Valley Cultural Byway |

VAN BUREN — Maine Department of Transportation Commissioner David Cole, along with elected officials from the St. John Valley will formally dedicate Maine’s newest Scenic Byway, the St. John Valley Cultural Byway on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Acadian Village on U.S Route 1 in Van Buren. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the ceremony.

CARIBOU — There’s a central Aroostook saying used to describe this part of the year that typically goes something along the lines of “the Aroostook River is so low you can walk across it without getting your feet wet!”
Aroostook Republican photo/Natalie Bazinet An Aroostook County proverb states that you can walk across the river without getting wet at this time of year, which is hyperbole at least under the Caribou bridge to Fort Fairfield.
