Hershey kids return |

Five hundred boys and girls ages 9-14 came together in Hershey, Pa. Aug. 5-8 for the 33rd annual North American Finals of the Hershey Youth Track and Field Program. When the meet ended, six Maine youths walked away with hardware including three from Aroostook County. One of the Maine competitors even took first place.

73 teams golf for charity |

It was a perfect weekend to play golf and because of that Cloukey’s Charity Challenge Golf Tournament was a huge success. Golfers converged on Limestone Country Club on July 17 and on Long Lake Country Club on July 18 to benefit Special Olympics.

LIMESTONE – The girls and boys soccer teams at Limestone-MSSM have welcomed many new faces to their rosters. The coaches say that success may not come immediately, but the future looks bright with underclassmen headlining the two squads.

Allen, one of the team’s captains, scored in her team’s victory over the Hawks. It is the only win so far for the Eagles, who enter the season with a very youthful squad under third-year head coach Brad Nadeau.

Washburn hosts first XC meet since 2003 |

For the first time since 1993, Washburn is fielding a cross country team. The Beavers hosted Fort Kent and Greater Houlton Christian Academy in a meet last Tuesday, and runners from the host school landed first-place finishes.
