PRESQUE ISLE – Patricia Donovan, 16, daughter of Harry and Candace Donovan of Blaine, produced the Grand Champion in her first year of showing at this year’s 4-H Baby Beef Show and Auction held at the Northern Maine Fair & Music Festival. Donovan was mentored by Bruce and Lauri Buck of Mapleton, leaders of the Aroostook Valley 4-H Baby Beef Club. The Bucks introduced the Nutrena “Northeast Beef Textured” feed to the Donovan family.

Maine Military Authority looks to Loring facilities |

LIMESTONE — An in-the-works building shift for the Maine Military Authority (MMA) may help the business increase efficiency both on the work line and in resource consumption.

ACAP to offer low income heat assistance |

Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) will be administering the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) again this year. LIHEAP provides financial assistance to eligible low-income households to offset the high cost of home heating. Eligible households are entitled to one LIHEAP benefit per heating season.

The last couple of weeks I’ve worn the ladies in the office out with lame ideas for our last quarterly newsletter, scheduled for Oct 1st. I have kicked around several half baked ones, and the ladies have kicked most of them straight out the door for their overall yuck-ed-ness.
