Contributed photo Tucker, a long-hair black and white cat, came to HHPR from a stray situation in Caribou. “He was very badly matted and require a grooming with a ‘Lion’s cut’ to clean up his hair growth,” explained HHPR President Norma Milton. Tucker was adopted over the weekend at the Adult Adoption Cat Fair at the Tractor Supply Store in Presque Isle along with five other adult cats. All adult cats from HHPR are spayed or neutered, have been leukemia and AIDS tested and have received their distemper and rabies shot as well as parasite prevention treatment. The adoption fee for an adult cat is $25. “If you are looking for a good loving cat for your family, call HHPR at 492-1722,” Milton encouraged. The pet rescue’s mailing address is PO Box 488, Caribou, ME 04736 and donations are gratefully accepted. |

Contributed photo Tommy is a five-month-old black and white rascally male kitten, currently residing at a Caribou Halfway Home Pet Rescue (HHPR) foster home. Volunteers agree that Tommy will require an active family situation with several other pets and children to play with. “Tommy does not understand the word ‘nap,’ only the word ‘play,’” explained HHPR President Norma Milton. “He loves to bounce catnip toys four- to five- feet in the air and catch them— Tommy constantly teases any other playful cats and get very bored when it is naptime. He’s always on the move.” While the young cat is very active, he’s also affectionate, clean, lovable and always happy. Volunteers are very forward that Tommy would not be the right cat for a quiet household and, instead, they are looking for an active home with other pets for the felaine to play with. HHPR volunteers will be holding the drawing for their February Calendar fund-raiser on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Sports Inn starting at 6 p.m. Volunteers will draw 29 names of individuals who’ve entered into the calendar contest; individuals can still purchase calendars from any HHPR board members until Saturday night. Individuals can win multiple times, as drawn tickets are placed back into the basket for another chance at winning. FMI: Norma at 492-1722. HHPR is a 501c3 non-profit, Maine Licensed Cat Rescue and specializes in Feline Rescue and Rehabilitation for Caribou and the surrounding communities. |

Contributed photo Employees of the financial and estate planning firm Thompson-Hamel, LLC, and Robert P. Thompson, EA of Presque Isle, contributed a total of $550 toward the Halfway Home Pet Rescue’s (HHPR) Future Building Project. At left, Thompson-Hamel employee Sharon Watson of Fort Fairfield, presents the gift to Anne Price of Presque Isle, HHPR secretary. HHPR officials expressed their gratitude for the gifts they’ve received from many community groups and individuals in Caribou and the surrounding towns. “Many gifts included greatly needed pet food and supplies, much needed cube beds for the most stressed felines, monetary gifts toward the future building and several very nice monetary gifts toward the medical expenses of the HHPR kittens and cats,” said HHPR President Norma Milton. HHPR is a 501c3 non-profit rescue group specializing in Feline Rescue and Rehabilitation, and a Maine Licensed Cat Rescue working out of a foster care network of loving homes. Those wishing to assist the shelter by providing foster home care for HHPR kittens/cats are urged to call Milton at 492-1722. A home visit is required for any foster home application. |
