    CARIBOU — After hearing numerous public comments regarding the proposed 2013-14 school budget, the Eastern Aroostook RSU 39 board attended to regular agenda items at their May 1 meeting, beginning with discussion of possibly adopting a common calendar for grades K through 12.
    Superintendent Frank McElwain gave the board drafts of a proposed common calendar, which would have all grades go into session at the same time with a two-week harvest break for all, and the traditional calendar, which has school begin two weeks earlier for grades 9 through 12 to accommodate for a harvest break that the remainder of the grades would not get.

    The sixth-grade teachers, Mr. Pelletier, Mrs. Bouchard, Ms. LaJoie and Mrs. Heidorn, have chosen Alexis Bruso as one of their March Students of the Month. Bruso is a quiet leader among her peers, according to her teachers. She works hard in all of her classes and always does the right thing. Bruso gets along well with everyone, making her a great addition to any group, her teachers say. She has good classroom management skills, is well organized, enjoys singing and is a member of the CMS chorus.

The second trimester honor roll for 2012-13 has been announced at Caribou’s Middle School.
