The American Legion Auxiliary of Stockholm Post No. 136 held its annual Poppy Day on April 13. Auxiliary President Kathy Robinson read the poem “Flanders Field” to explain the origin of the poppy being used as a symbol.  A delicious and fancy lunch was served, made by members Norma Akerson and Karla Fisher. There was music and dancing.  The girls made a paper basket for poppies.  Poppy Queens, all Junior members of the Auxiliary, were chosen from three age categories; they include, in back, Poppy Queen Kristyn Maley. In front, from left, Poppy Princess Morgan Woodrum, Little Miss Poppy Grace Lagasse, Poppy Princess Kammi Fisher and Junior Poppy Queen Ilsah Peterson. The Queens will distribute poppies at various events and the money will be used to assist veterans.
